If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete.
Daily self-care sounds like a burden to those who have yet to begin the practice. However, once you’ve experienced the reward you’ll never turn back, especially during the days when you doubt you have time to eat let alone pamper yourself.
None of the things listed in the article below are extravagant, they don’t even take much planning, and most can be done in just a matter of a few minutes. But they are priceless to a busy mom or any person who has more on their plate than their plate can hold. It is extremely important that you feed your soul first so that you have your sanity available when things come up that you must deal with.
There is no need to loose your temper, or get frustrated, or allow yourself to fall into that emotional reaction, if you had self-care as part of your daily routine the emotional distractions that you face will lose their power over you. You will have replaced that emotional reaction with a soothing, peacefully bath, or mediation or something else that makes sense in our world. I’ve had people tell me I’m crazy, that these things won’t work. But after some convincing and getting them to commit to trying it for a month, the people (every one of them) have been shocked and have adopted daily self-care as the most important part of their daily routine, along with personal hygiene of course.
Give it a try for a month, you too will find that your life doesn’t have to be so crazy, you can calm yourself and find peace by using daily self-care. Even without changing the way your boss, significant other or the kids act, that is huge.
